This was the latest on Maiya Samman Yojana payments. Under this scheme, thousands of women received ₹7,500 in one go in March. But still, over 20 lakh women continue to wait for payments. Those whose bank accounts did not show credit have good news-that amount has been deposited into post office accounts instead.
Officials said beneficiaries would have to go through their post office accounts before they could confirm that money had been credited there. Many women were completely unaware of this and, as a result, made repeated trips to the bank without success.
Now that people realize the money is available in post office accounts, queues have been replaced by bank ones, which are now outside post offices as women clamour to collect their entitled amount of ₹7,500.

The Maiya Samman Yojana has made a difference in people’s lives. Launched in 2024 by the Hemant Soren government, this program provides ₹2,500 every month to eligible women in Jharkhand on January 2024.
